Getting Started with Meta Horizon Managed Services (MHMS)
Summary:
This guide walks you through setting up XALTER on Meta Quest headsets using Meta Horizon Managed Services (MHMS). Use this path if your organization manages devices at scale.
Prerequisites
Active Meta Horizon Managed Services account
Quest headsets enrolled in MHMS
Admin rights to assign and push apps
Valid XALTER license(s)
Step 1 — Enroll Devices in MHMS
Power on the Quest headset.
Complete the initial Meta setup (Wi-Fi, Meta account sign-in).
From the MHMS admin console, add the headset by serial number or QR code.
Confirm the device appears in your organization’s MHMS dashboard.
Tip: Group devices by site, team, or training cohort to make app assignments easier later.
Step 2 — Assign the XALTER App
In the MHMS console, go to Apps → Catalog.
Locate XALTERverse App.
If your catalog doesn’t list it yet, your Account Manager will provide access details.
Assign the app to the correct device group.
Verify the app shows as “Pending Install” on all targeted devices.
Step 3 — Push & Confirm Installation
From the MHMS console, select Push Update.
Ensure each headset is:
Powered on
Connected to Wi-Fi
Assigned to the right group
Once installation is complete, the app status will change to Installed.
On the headset, check the Apps Library → Managed Apps folder to find XALTER.
Step 4 — First Login
Launch XALTER from the headset library.
Enter your username and password (provided by your Account Manager or SSO).
If SSO is enabled, select your organization’s login method.
Once logged in, you should see the XALTER Main Menu.
Step 5 — Reassigning or Resetting Devices
To move a device to a new user or group:
In MHMS, unassign the app from the old group.
Reassign to the new group.
Push update.
To factory reset a device:
Use the Remote Actions → Wipe Device option in MHMS.
Re-enroll the device and repeat Steps 1–3.
Common Pitfalls
Headset must be on Wi-Fi during installation.
If an app shows as stuck on “Pending,” reboot the headset while connected to Wi-Fi.
Updates can take 10–15 minutes to propagate across groups.
