Getting Started on Meta Quest (Standalone)
Summary:
This guide covers how to install and launch XALTER on a Meta Quest headset without using Meta Horizon Managed Services. Use this path if you are deploying to a small number of devices or setting up individually.
Prerequisites
Meta Quest 2, Quest 3, or Quest Pro headset
Stable Wi-Fi connection
XALTER account (username/password or SSO enabled by your organization)
Access to the XALTER app download link (provided by your Account Manager)
Step 1 — Initial Headset Setup
Power on your Meta Quest headset.
Connect to Wi-Fi and sign in with a Meta account.
Complete the first-time device setup (Guardian boundary, controller pairing, etc.).
Step 2 — Install the XALTER App
Put on the headset and open the Meta App Library.
Select Unknown Sources / App Lab (depending on distribution).
Find XALTER VR Training.
If your Account Manager provided a direct install link, accept the install prompt.
Wait for the installation to complete.
Step 3 — Launch XALTER
Open the Apps Library on your Quest headset.
Navigate to XALTER VR Training.
Launch the app.
Step 4 — First Login
At the login screen, enter your username and password.
If your organization uses SSO, choose the appropriate login method.
Once logged in, you will be taken to the XALTER Main Menu.
Step 5 — Updates
XALTER automatically updates itself when new versions are released.
To confirm you are on the latest build:
Go to App Info → Version Number inside the app.
Compare with the version listed in your release notes (from your Account Manager).
No manual reinstall is required unless otherwise instructed.
Common Pitfalls
If the app does not appear after install, reboot the headset and check under Unknown Sources.
Wi-Fi must remain connected during download.
If login fails, confirm your account is active with your Account Manager.
